In Part 3 of this history telling series, we carry on with a deep-dive into the aughts. In that decade notables such as Testsite/Fluent~Collaborative, Co-Lab Projects, Big Medium, The Fuse Box Festival, MASS, Landmarks, the Lora Reynolds Gallery, the Blanton Museum, and Arthouse, the final precursor to the Contemporary Austin emerged among many others. In many ways, this period propelled Austin’s art scene to its current ethos. The energy and excitement that sparked then continues to resonate today.Three major players in the epicenter were Art Palace (2005-2009 Austin:2010-2017 Houston), D.Berman Gallery (2000-2011) and Okay Mountain (2006-2012). Jill Schroeder told me that they all influenced her inspiration to open her gallery grayDUCK (2010-present).
